Lifestyles of the other-than-famous
It's me. Half the time you see these things, please note - it's after midnight. Frequently, this means that I've been drinking, so there a grains of salt - and there are lumps of salt. Guess which one I'm prescribing?
The first thing I've learned tonight is that my friends who are guys, need to learn a little thing called romance. Fortunately, 1 of the 2 girls I spoke with, she doesn't want it, so he's been safe.
Romance isn't the 25-cent word that should cause you to cringe and hide. It means that you act slightly outside the norm, and do something. Buy her flowers, and deliver it in some halfway clever way. Even if it's half-assed, you've tried, which is more than the girl hears from her co-workers. (If you acted that way all the time, you'd be in this weird zone, non-guy. She doesn't want that.)
The second thing I learned, is apparently some girls won't turn away stalker ex-boyfriends outright in the middle of the night, with their current boyfriend in the girls bed. I'm not sure I learned this thing firsthand, but I heard a funny story about it. I think a new criteria for me, is that any girl I date, needs to have the quality to turn away such people...and hopefully, not have to do it at 1am. (Er...yeah. The boy at 1am needs to go away. No, honey, I'm not going to talk to him. No, you shouldn't talk to him either.)
The final thing I learned was...hmm. I'm sure there was something, but that'll go for another night. Visqueen is playing this Wednesday (a good thing), and Flogging Molly is playing the week after. Yeah, rah.

Recapping
Background Music: Chumbawamba - UN
My life didn't end when SP2 did the deed.
My nephew and his fiancee came out for Magnetic Fields - good show.
I did go west, east, east some more, and back west to home. I didn't get out a whole lot in Germany, and I got out every night Japan.

Windows SP2 - Or How I Stopped Worrying and Loved Linux
This has been dead for a time - SP2 did a dance on my home machines for some period of time, and I ...well, I'm giving up. I'm slowly migrating to Linux - I figure I'll recover as much of my windows stuff as possible, and then reformat the drive to linux.
Shows I haven't missed in the past several months:
Weakerthans: Fun, enjoyable.
Presidents (Mountain Con/Visqueen): Good. Visqueen lost their bassist, gaining a new bassist (temporarily?) from the Muffs. Mountain Con's still good.
Presidents/MxPx/Smoosh are playing a tsunami benefit on Wednesday.
Flogging Molly is playing Graceland on February 11 & 12...the 11th is the 21+ show.
I'm planning on buying a pool table for my apartment. I have a crapload of stuff to get rid of first, but I think the linux machine & desk take first prize.
1) get linux set up properly
2) get rid of junk clothes
3) get new bookcases for closet
4) move books
5) get rid of old bookcase, crap in storage closet
6) get pool table.
Rinse, repeat.
