No personal life discussed

...is not to say I don't have one.

As much as I'd be tempted to rant about work, my roommate issues, family, friends, my health, my spleen (it's doing quite well in tropical Antarctica), or my non-existant pet...I'll skip that kind of stuff. I could meta-rant about those discussions, but they don't fill me with glee and happiness.

I almost bought a wireless router this past weekend, but I'm waiting until my roommate leaves, so I can start with a virus-free environment. Ah. And it's money I don't honestly need to spend.

I missed a political debate with passing acquaintances. It would have been fun, but painful (almost like a girlfriend I won't describe). Fun, as in, seeing what they think of the world. Painful, because last debate we had was gay marriage, and it was basically a yes-go-round. (Yes, there isn't a good reason that exists solely based on opposite gender; yes, marriage is fine as a social/religious expression; yes, marriage-in-eyes-of-state is basically a civil union recognizing a set of rights that are too numerous to be drawn up separately.)

Revealing the Mysteries of the Past

I'm not a constant whirlwind of force.

That said, I'll offer reviews of CDs and shows I talked about in the past, but failed to elaborate on.

Tossers: Chicago Irish punk/rock/folk - pretty fun.
The Skels: New Jersey Irish punk/rock/bar - better fun.

I did catch The Clare Voyants when they were in town. Small turnout - sorry guys...Sunday afternoon in Seattle just isn't a hot time. I spoke with an older gentleman who apparently watches them in huge turnouts in Phoenix. 5-6 good irish pubs in Phoenix sounds good, a little too good to be true, honestly. If it can support more than a couple bands as good as this one though, I might have to take a trip down there. (The jigs and reels were good, if not my cup of te...glass of beer.) Danny Boy RIP - quite good. Someday they'll sell CDs online, too.

My goal is to eventually get some Poxy Boggards CDs. I say goal, as I've already put in an order, which may or may not have gotten lost at the fulfillment house (midst of moving, misplaced the CDs). Time to go check on that.

Music

You might think I only do two things: music shows & play games. That's not true - I hopefully fit in work & sleep, not always in that order. Occasionally I vainly pursue relationships.

Music shows in the next 2 months:
Sept 2nd, Rum Runners @ The Funhouse
Sept 3rd, Against Me! @ Bumbershoot (or Presidents, but probably Against Me!)
Sept 17, Mountain Con CD release party @ Neumo's
Sept 19th, Rock Against Bush tour stop @ Showbow
Oct 2nd, Visqueen CD release party @ Crocodile
Oct 19th, Flogging Molly @ The Premier

Current games:
Ticket to Ride (good board game) has been overtaken by Navia Drapt. I'm afraid that Navia will lose shortly, as my co-workers don't play chess (or shogi) as a starting base.
I just started playing Tales of Symphonia for the GameCube. Entertaining.

I picked up several CDs in the past week:
the latest Big Bad Voodoo Daddy (used, the only way I buy groups that I listen to, but never seen)
Beatnik Turtle's Cheapass album (friend in the band)
Chumbawamba's Un (used - no rush, must be like the 12th album of theirs I have)
Presidents of the United States - Love Everybody

Cake's new one is coming out soon.
