Irish Music
I got an e-mail back from a band "The Clare Voyants" - some sort of irish folkish group out of AZ. (www.theclarevoyants.com) I was curious about the group - it came up when I was looking up Michael Stackpole's upcoming books, and he was a fan of theirs.
So, being curious about new music, I e-mailed them - "Any CDs I can buy online?" The response? We'll be in Seattle, July 25th at Fado's (and looking for some other dates). What randomness...good though.
I spent too much money at Tower Records. Either $15/$16 on a CD from The Tossers. Their website has the CD for 10...damn that instant gratification habit. Communication and Conviction...really, really fun. Like Flogging Molly? This is slightly more folksy, but amazing.

shite'n'onions
I went shopping for shoes on Sunday. I couldn't find any in the U-District, so I took a bus to Capitol Hill. I didn't find any there, either. Shoes, at least.
I did hit a couple of used CD stores. The first one is kind of a hole in the wall on the west side of Broadway, south towards Pine. I picked up a couple of CDs, and went across the street to EveryDay, which is HUGE. I bought 6 more CDs there, mostly punk compilations and several odd small CDs.
The German punk compilation "Punk Chartbusters Vol. 2" is pretty fun and cool...I don't think I'll find many of those groups in the States.
Shite'n'onions Volume 1 is really good. Up-and-coming celtic/punk bands...a couple are already defunct, but that's punk. I went and bought 2 of "The Skels" CDs online tonight, and searched another dozen sites. (The comp. album site, www.shitenonions.com has music reviews of other celtic/punk bands as well.)
I'll say that it sucks though. Most of the bands are EU or East Coast only. And strangely, plenty of tours in Japan. Are you testing my resolve to stay in Seattle?
